May - August Missions Update

Dear PASTORS and Prayer Partners,

“I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 1:4

We would like to thank the Lord for all the blessings His kindly hand has given us and for the opportunity we have to work in the reaping field of Rattanakiri, Cambodia.

It has been an exciting, life changing year for me and my wife and even for the rest of the members of Bethany Baptist Mission. As most of you know, we just successfully finished our 3rd mission-church anniversary last May 30. The theme “We Are Saved To Serve” was really a challenged and an encouragement for all of us as part of BBC-Rattanakiri to be really involve in the Lord’s work no matter what obstacles, discouragements and even oppositions that we will encounter in our lives and in the ministry. I always keep on telling and encouraging our members through God’s Word that because we are saved, we must serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And also, to those who are part already of the ministry, we need to keep going and continue serving the Lord with all our strength in spite of the hardships or problems.

Not only that, after the anniversary, God gave us another open door to serve and minister through another ministry. This would help some of our members to learn basic Khmer language. And this will be open as well to non-Christians for us to have the opportunity to reach out and share the Gospel to them using this ministry. We noticed and found out that some of the students or people and even our own members in this place don’t know how to read or write in their own language. I shared this to the church and they agreed to open a Khmer literacy ministry. And I told them to pray about it especially to pray for someone to lead this kind of ministry. After our service, one of our member, a sixty-six year old man named Om Ath approached me and said, Pastor, I would like to serve God thru this ministry to help my own people and even the tribal people to read and write their national language. By the way, he knows and can speak French fluently and some English words. He is a very faithful member and very active person in his age. He’s the one who brought his entire family and relatives to the church. We’re so blessed to have this man in our church and please do help us pray that God would continue to work in his heart to work full-time in the ministry. Presently, he and his family are getting glue which is in Khmer word “Chie Chuwa” from the rubber tree in his own land as their means of living. Every Thursday on our Prayer Meeting, we always pray for Om Ath that he and his wife or another person would someday, God willing to take over the work as a local Pastor of BBC-Rattanakiri. So, we, your present missionaries could be able to start another work and concentrate more near the central border of Vietnam to reach one group of tribal people. It is really our heart’s desire when I came back with a wife here in this country to reach the unreached and minister to these uneducated people. Brethren, please do help us pray for God’s will that this plan would really work out this year or probably next year or few more years so we could start a new ministry focusing more on the tribal people.

We thank those of you who support us financially, and who pray for us daily or weekly. Many of you have been a blessing to us, and we hope we have been a blessing to you. May God bless you, as you continue to serve Him.

Serving Christ in Rattanakiri,

JAMANDRON’S KIT and JANETH
