October - November Missions Update

Dear PASTORS and Faithful Supporters,

Greetings from cold Northeastern Cambodia!

Thank you for being so faithful to the Lord. We never want to take for granted that you are the vessels that the Lord uses to keep us here and doing His work. Thank you for being our co-laborers and partners thru these years.

We pray that this letter finds you all well and serving the Lord with joy and excitement in your hearts. The work and ministry here in Ratanakiri is incredible. It truly is a privilege to work and to be part of what the Lord is doing here. We are sent to suffer, to love, to teach, to preach, to disciple for His sake - whether or not the Gospel is accepted, we must go. We are compelled to go. We cannot resist the call of God. It is God's purpose that they be told the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ clearly and plainly in their own tongue. Learning another language is a little bit difficult but if we will put our hearts in it and by God’s grace, we were able to learn it bit by bit. It would be very difficult for us to be an effective missionary if we will not try to learn the language to reach out not only to the children or young people but also to the old people. Please do help us pray that God would provide us a Jarai language tutor to teach us proper pronunciation for us to learn the language and be an effective missionaries to this one tribal group.

October has really been an encouragement and fruitful to both of us not only because of souls getting saved, some baptisms, members were revived and spiritually growing and also the attendance is increasing a little bit by God’s grace but God allowed us to take some rest at least for 5 days thru our Asian Baptist Clearing House Regional Retreat in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. Some of our fellow Filipino missionaries with their families around Asia came together to meet and fellowship and feast on God’s Word. The messages we’re so encouraging and challenging to us personally. We came back with from that blessed retreat with renewed hearts and fire to keep on serving the Lord in spite of some hardships in the field.

Also, after the retreat, our Pastor Nable from our sending church with the Dean of our Christian College (Dr. Oliver Ventinilla) together with Bro. Hak Siha, a Cambodian who married a Filipina and our future missionary to Ghana, Africa came to visit the work and ministry of Bethany Baptist Church-Mission, Rattanakiri. We had our special morning service on Tuesday in behalf of our Pastor and company. I asked our Pastor to preach and challenged our people concerning our anniversary theme last May which is “Faithful Till He Comes”. He challenged our people from the book of 2 Timothy 4: 6-7 and Hebrews 12:1-2. It was well preached and truly understood by our people that day. We had a traditional Khmer/tribal service which all of us sat down on the floor while the speaker was standing with our interpreter. After the service, our Pastor had the privileged to baptize my mother in law; my niece and the wife of the former governor of Rattanakiri in our famous volcano lake crater “Bang Yak Loem” Praise the Lord. Please pray that these new members will grow spiritually and stay faithful in the Lord’s work. A week after the baptism, Srey Heng, the wife of the former governor’s wife went out together with one of our old and faithful ladies to gave out many booklets and tracts around the province. She still used her charisma to invite people and even some of her friends and win souls for Christ. What a great testimony of this lady!

After Rattanakiri, our Pastor invited me to accompany them to visit our sent out Cambodian missionary ministering in Pakse, Laos. We travelled about two and half hours by van from Rattanakiri to Stung Streng. Stung Streng is one of the provinces where one of the borders going to Laos is situated. We waited the bus for about 4 hours coming from Phnom Penh. Then, we travelled again by bus to Pakse, Laos for about 3-4hours. Praise the Lord we arrived safely late in the evening. Our missionary picked us up and stayed in a very nice hotel. The situation in this place is not so easy especially for the cause of the Gospel unlike in other neighboring countries. You could feel the pressure because it is still under the communist government. But in spite of this pressure, the Lord is doing tremendously with our missionary and his family in that restricted country. We stayed for 1 day and 2 nights. PRAISE THE LORD!!

Brethren, Thank You for Praying and Giving! May God bless you SO richly through His ministry!

Sincerely your friends & servants here,

KIT and JANETH
